buy nothing day fair

lots of music

i have something special to share. it was about my experience at the buy nothing day fair a few of my friends organized. although there weren't a whole bunch of people there, there was still a pretty large crowd with tons of activities. all of course were free!!! the denver zine library hosted the space.. it holds over 3000+ zines. so awesome! on the agenda there was:

- diy soap making by the hazelnut soap co-op
- how to make kombucha/ culture giveaway
- sewing 101 and make your own monster
- live music all night by friends
- meditation/ aum circle led by me!
- vegan food from food not bombs and take home produce
- vegan cupcakes from plants and animals
- and much more!

the experience was so rad. people coming together, sharing and creating is simply amazing. times like this i find vibrant love in my community i gain so much inspiration. life can be that simple sometimes it just takes coming together.

leading the group meditation was amazing. so much love and light in the room. i felt so alive and am so blessed to have been part of the fair and share what i know to radical people.

pomegranate seeds for the salad

to all of the people you love. i spent my thanksgiving with my best friend and his family this year. one thing about the holidays is that it brings people closer together. it's great to share stories over food about all of the experiences you've been through. or to just simply laugh with people you love.

squash soup

vegan dinner

i embraced wanting to have a traditional (vegan) thanksgiving this year, so i indulged. it incorporated some cranberry sauce, green beans, roasted root vegetables, mashed potatoes with gravy and of course pumpkin pie. his sister always makes her famous squash soup every year, and this time she veganized it! instead of cream she used coconut milk, so delicious!

the 'kids' table

what is great about our friendship is that we are family. i can do my laundry at their house, play music with his dad and talk for hours with his mom. i feel so at home every time i spend time with them.

beautiful flowers from beautiful friends

I'm finished with my teacher training program! It was so awesome and beautiful. To be honest it was bittersweet. I became really close to a lot of people really fast, and was sad for it to end. I mean I know I will still see the friends i made outside of the training, but it was just nice to have three days a week out of my normal context...

What is normal, right? anyways, I'm just so excited to teach people yoga. It's transformed my life in so many ways, and the ability to spread it to people around me just makes me smilel! I can't wait!

snacks at whole foods

one thing i'm trying to commit to is eating better again. I was doing very awesome for the majority of the year, but i have fallen off the wagon. i know what i eat most consider healthy, but all this gluteness bread and thanksgiving food has got me feeling icky. Oh well, we only live once, and thanksgiving only comes once a year so I'm comfortable with it! Now with school being over, and more free time open I can dedicate more time in the kitchen and prep work for wholesome yumminess!

overcast mornings in colorado

when there is a lot of shifting in your life or you're trying to find where you are going, life can bring an element of discomfort or uncertainty. it could be completely opposite to you, you might even find more excitement. everyone is different!

for me, i tend to dance in between. lately, i've been closer to being uncertain then anything, but that's okay! currently, with all of the movement, new vibrations and communication happening between people i love i've been finding myself feeling a little confused. i only feel this way because i'm getting a taste of what i want to pursue, finding self reliance, and what big impacts can be made with little or no communication.

when we are thinking to hard, or down on ourselves it's important to realize the answer is inside of us. thats not far at all. to calm down, and take one thing at a time. to allow ourselves to be present in the moment and release what is holding us back.

along time ago i had some very dark days, and when i was riding a new wave to happiness i wrote these things down. i wanted to share them with you.

you deserve to:

learn something new

use your hands

eat healthy food

have movement

have expression

not carry guilt

be your authentic self

live with intention

have passions

cry when you need to

be loved

be part of a community

have a family

be resepected

accept help

laugh at yourself

follow your passions

wake up feeling refreshed

speak your truth

have meaningful relationships

be radical

find beauty

have joy throughout your day

get rid of what no longer serves you

find the power inside of yourself

open doors that were once closed

help others

change society

to live vibrantly

be organic

have happiness

you deserve to be present

what do you deserve?

thankful thursday

with thanksgiving coming i've been thinking of a lot of things i'm thankful for. i was going to wait to post this, but it's been awhile since i've posted and to get my creative juices flowing again i decided to just post this early.

i'm nearly finished with my teacher training and in 4 more classes i will graduate! so exciting! in this training i've learned so much about the practice, made awesome friendships, and connected with myself on such a deep level. yoga is a life long journey and i love to see what each day unfolds for me.

other than that i've been extremely busy. working at whole foods full-time and going to school 3 days a week has been a challenge, but i'm not complaining because it is totally worth it! if it weren't for all of the amazing people in my life, the food i get to eat everyday and just the positivity and light i found i don't know how i would have done it.

anyways, i've been going through pictures from foureyes and wanted to do a little post about things i adore and am so grateful for. what an honor to be blessed with so much awesome love in my life.

I'm thankful for:

nick, because he is my best friend and brother. i can't explain how awesome our friendship is.

all of the books i read this year.

gluten free baked goods.

piper, because she is magical and our friendship is based on creativity.

cody and all of his loud yelpy cuteness.

my cat, and all of his subtle and nurturing ways.

max and his cuddly love.

the dedication i find for myself each and every time i step on the mat.

raw food recipes.

live music and performance art.

green juice in the morning.

new friendships!

all of the variations of banana soft serve you can think of!

good health and the most spectacular summer ever.

cantaloupe because i ate like 300 of them. they are my absolute favorite fruit.

kyle simply because he's kyle.

the farmers market and all of it's bountiful goods.

my dad, because he is the best dad anyone could ask for.

to spend quality time with beautiful people.

natures ability to create such amazing food.

rachel, my lovely little sidekick. she's always there when i need her, and her food and art is amazing.

siesta key and spending a week on the beach.

leah, because she gives me so much inspiration and beautiful insight.

my ukulele and all of it's awesomeness.

every single kale salad i consumed this year.

april, for being a loving and supportive person in my life.

burning man.

pizza, raw or cooked it's something i always look forward to eat!

for myself because i wake up everyday and choose to live with intention.

all of the inspiration and beauty i find in life everyday.

What are you thankful for?
